What is Cataract?
A cataract is a clouding of the eye’s natural lens, leading to blurry vision and potential vision loss if untreated.
Why do cataract happen?
Cataracts happen due to the breakdown and clumping of proteins in the eye’s lens, often as a result of aging, injury, or other risk factors like UV exposure or diabetes.
Can Cataract contributes to complications inside eye?
Yes, cataracts can contribute to complications inside the eye, such as increased intraocular pressure, inflammation, or difficulty diagnosing and managing other eye conditions.
How is Cataract treated?
Only definitive treatment for Cataract is Surgery wherein natural lens is removed and an
artificial lens is implanted. Spectacles and Eye drops DO NOT really treat cataract.
What is the recovery time after cataract surgery? Will I have to restrict all my works?
No. There are few hygiene related precautions which one has to follow. Due to recent advances recovery time is quick. Most patients can resume general work after few days to a week.
LASIK: Laser Vision Correction

Is LASIK a safe treatment?
Yes. Over the years this procedure has greatly evolved making it more accurate and very safe.
What is the best age to get LASIK? Between 18 to 32 Yrs age.
Will I ever have to wear spectacles in future?
Yes. After the age 40, you may need presbyopic glasses.
What is the recovery time after LASIK surgery?
One can resume his/her general works within few days to a week.

UVEITIS

What is Uveitis?
Uveitis is inflammation of structures inside the eye. It is different from the
inflammation of the surface of the eye. Uveitis can be very painful and can even cause
blindness.
How does Uveitis happen?
There are many different types of uveitis. There can be multiple causes for uveitis like
trauma, infection, and autoimmune systemic diseases. Overall, it is very important to
keep in mind that uveitis should be immediately treated. It is a recurrent condition
and so patients may have to visit the doctor many times.
GLAUCOMA

What is Glaucoma?
We don’t just see in the center. We also see our surroundings. Meaning, we all have Central Vision as well as Field of Vision. Glaucoma (कांच बिंदु) is a condition that affects our field of vision. It is a silent and symptomless disease. People don’t realize its presence till the advanced stage.
How Glaucoma is diagnosed?
Glaucoma is diagnosed during a routine eye examination. Its presence is confirmed by certain special tests like Visual Field Analysis and Optic Nerve Analysis.
Is Glaucoma treatable?
Like diabetes and blood pressure, Glaucoma is a disease which can be well controlled so that it doesn’t affect your overall lifestyle.
What is Visual Field test or Perimetry test?
As Vision Chart is used to test your “Central Vision”, Perimetry is used to test your “Field of Vision”. Perimetry test is needed to diagnose Glaucoma and various other diseases.
All forms of Glaucoma treatment are done, medically as well as surgically (if required). OCT, Perimetry, and Pachymetry are done at affordable cost.

Can Eye diseases affect children as well?
Yes. Like adults, children can suffer from multiple eye diseases which must be diagnosed early and treated well.
When should a child be shown to a doctor?
As early as 3 yrs age a child should have a routine eye checkup. Later, as per the doctor’s instruction.
Whom should I consult for my child’s eye disease..my Pediatrician or my Ophthalmologist?
You should consult your Ophthalmologist as they are specially trained in treating eye diseases.

RETINA


Retina is the layer of tissues at the back of your eye which senses the focused lightand forms image… just as film roll in your camera. There are many diseases whichcan affect Retina. For example Retinal Detachment, Diabetic Retinopathy, RetinalBlood Vessels Occlusion, Infection and Inflammation of Retina, Bleeding of Retinaand age related changes on Retina and so on.
Can diseases of Retina be treated?
Yes. A large number of retinal diseases can be treated and blindness can beprevented. Timely diagnosis and treatment give best results.
What is Diabetic Retinopathy?
Uncontrolled diabetes and high blood sugar can cause bleeding and other damageon retina. A regular retina check up can prevent vision loss due to diabeticretinopathy.
Is LASER treatment of Retina safe?
Yes. Laser treatment of Retina is needed in many conditions like Retinal Hole; Retinopathy etc. It prevents further damage.
What is OCT test for Retina?
OCT stands for Optical Coherence Tomography. Like well known CT Scan of Brain,OCT is a scan of Retina which allows a doctor to examine Retina layer by layer aseach different layer of Retina can be affected by different class of diseases. What to do if my eyes hurt while wearing contact lenses?

What is Keratoconus? Keratoconus is a disease in which cornea progressively become thin and bulges out in a conical shape. At initial stage it blurs the vision. Subsequently, as the disease progresses, vision becomes badly distorted. An early diagnosis is essential to arrest the progression using techniques called Corneal Cross Linking (CXL).
